"Whether I am working on a large portrait, a tiny ACEO, or sewing and painting a delicate memory pouch, all my works are influenced by the beauty of nature and the ethereal magic of this brief life."
Born in the 60’s, Kyla Allen (also known as Seeta Anarishkwa) began her artistic journey in Southern California when, at the tender age of three, she discovered the magic of crayons and created a masterpiece on her bedroom walls. While she grew up in the big cities of Los Angeles and Orange County California, for the last 30 years she has lived in the beautiful high valley of Cottonwood Arizona. She feels she traded up, for a place where wildlife is ever present, the clear air is never touched by smog, and a beautiful dark mountain stands as a sentinel over all she loves.
Though she attended some training, Kyla considers herself a self-taught artist through trial and error (alot of error!) and is continually working to improve and evolve her own unique style.
She has exhibited her works at numerous shows and conventions but most recently in Cottonwood Arizona wine country. She had the exhibition, “Faces of Woman” at the Pillsbury Wine Tasting Room in Old Town Cottonwood, the local gourmet coffee establishment Jerona’s, as well as the local Cottonwood City Hall, and she also participated in promoting two local Verde Valley Wine Trail events by painting wine barrels in 2011 and 2013. She is also known by the name Seeta Anarishkwa, which means “fire wolf” in the native American Indian Wyandot language.
As well as being an artist, Kyla is a wife, mother and an identical twin. And though she states “I am” an identical twin, her beloved sister Kishma Danielle passed away on January 28, 2014 and the loss is still fresh. Acknowledging that she was now a "twinless twin," also brought her to the realization that she needed to do what makes her happy. Something where she creates, imagines, and shares the magic that comes from her heart, mind and fingers.
With this thought in mind, her website has been re-born, and her focus is on the beauty in her dreams and her world. The majority of the items you will find here are one-of a kind!
