About Memory and Cell Phone Pouches
What is a memory pouch?
Though Kyla sometimes uses the term medicine bag for the individually hand crafted pouches she creates, what she makes are not considered traditional. They are loosely based on the native American Indian tradition of medicine bags through design and materials used. Kyla creates the pouch and it is you that adds the “medicine” therefore her pouches are more about personal significance.
A memory pouch contains objects that have special meaning to the wearer. Each pouch is as individual as the owner and no two bags will contain the same contents. Pouches historically contained items from the plant, animal and mineral fields which could include stones, shells, herbs, feathers, teeth, claws as well as keepsakes from the wearer’s life experiences. Typically made of leather, often appearing with painted, beaded or leather worked images and designs, yhey have also been made of materials such as horns, flax, seedpods, shells, wool or other woven materials.
Often worn for protection, guidance or healing, they are most closely connected to the spiritual philosophies of the individual eearing them. And though most well known as part of the native American Indian culture, medicine bags, memory pouches or similar items have been found throughout the centuries and have been used by many cultures.
What is special about Kyla's cell phone pouches?
After the second or third time her husband snapped a generic plastic cell phone carrier off his belt, Kyla came to the rescue with a leather cell phone pouch. After some trial and error she has created a perfect pouch, comfortable to hang off your belt, with easy access the cell phone, and stylish on top of that! Her cell phone pouch creations range from ornate, hand laced fashion statements to simple, hand sewn deer leather even the most conservative professional can wear.
The majority of pouches you will find are One-Of-A-Kind (OOAK) items! Kyla rarely repeats her images in an identical format, and she makes each pouch by hand, so there will always be minute differences in the actual construction as well.

About Kyla's (and Seeta's) Paintings
Everything's A Canvas
Kyla (also known as Seeta Anarishkwa which is Wyandot for Fire Wolf) can’t seem to contain herself to a single creative point and is occasionally like a Labrador Retriever with 4 tennis balls, she can’t figure out which one to play with. But in Kyla’s case, rather than confusion, she spreads her creative energies around. To her, "Everything's A Canvas!" and here you will see what she creates when she has some of those moments. The more traditional pieces are produced on canvas, wood and similar materials, usually ready to be displayed in your home, office or that special place. Then there are the unique pieces, painted on stones, leather, bone and other distinctive materials. Please check out the shop for prices and availability.
